Katrina Grant to speak at Big Data in the Humanities: A Symposium
Monday 14 October 2019

CDHR's Dr Katrina Grant will be speaking at the upcoming HASS DeVL sponsored event on Big Data in the Humanities.

About the event

Big Data in the Humanities

What do we mean by 'big data' in the context of the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences? And what future successes can we harness for HASS by working more collaboratively across platforms, data sets, projects and collecting institutions? How will we collectively navigate ethical and sustainable practices around the collection and use of data and how can we best enable HASS researchers to share their data with others?

This 1-day symposium is an opportunity to discuss these questions and more by bringing together researchers, research data specialists, GLAM experts, eResearch specialists and other practitioners to consider:

  • the collection of large data sets in HASS
  • the sharing of and collaboration around big data in HASS
  • policy and ethics questions around large data capture and use
  • potential collaborative projects
  • management and infrastructure support for enabling research with big data
