Fieldwork equipment

The Centre's fieldwork equipment can be accessed by RSHA staff, students and visiting fellows. Other staff and students within the CASS should enquire with their local area about available facilities. Special requests to borrow equipment should be sent to the RSHA director.

Field equipment:

We have a small amount of digital recording equipment including digital voice recorders, digital video cameras and microphones. See below. 

Editing suites:

  • MacPro video editing suite with Final Cut Pro 7 and Adobe CS4 Master Collection.
  • Scanning edit suite with Epson V700 flatbed/film scanner and Nikon Coolscan 4000ED 35mm slide/negative scanner.

Note: Training to use equipment or software cannot be provided. It is expected you are already familiar with the use of the software and equipment. We ask that researchers and students acknowledge the Centre for Digital Humanities Research in your research outcomes if you use our facilities.

The following items can be booked by ANU staff and postgraduate students through RSHA reception in the Sir Roland Wilson Building:

All other items can be booked as follows.

1. Please email: cdhr@anu.edu.au to check availability and to make an appointement to pick up and return the equipment. The store is located in the Sir Roland Wilson Building.

2. A 'once off' approval to borrow form must be signed and a copy provided when borrowing the equipment. Download approval to borrow form via this link.

3. If equipment is being taken off campus for field work, please note that you must have an approvedANU Approval to Travel form. This is because equipment is only covered by ANU insurance whilst on ANU approved travel. Insurance claims are also subject to certain conditions outlined in the ANU insurance policy.

4. Please note bookings require a minimum of 3 working days notice: i.e. for a booking to commence on a Monday morning, it must be placed by the preceeding Thursday afternoon.
